Throughout his career from the 1890's through the 1930's Washburn returned repeatedly to France, usually to Paris or the Riviera. Among the sustained periods relative to print-making are Menton, France, where he stayed after recovering from pneumonia in San Francisco, Cap Martin in 1928, and Paris in summer of 1934.
