Washburn's time in Mallorca produced a large number of notable portraits as well as landscapes. He likely selected Mallorca not only because its people and scenery providing ample subject matter, but also for the economical living. He is mentione in a book published in 1934, by Percy Waxman,What Price Mallorca, which pitched for Mallorca as a destination where the dollar went the furthest.

Note that for a number of prints, there is contradictory evidence as to whether they should be assigned to the Canary Islands or to Mallorca.
